Ear Surgery
Ear surgery (otoplasty) or ‘ear pinning’ is a surgical procedure to reshape outstanding ears and improve their placement closer to the head.
Otoplasty is an insured service by OHIP until the age of 18 years.
-
The scars are well hidden behind the ears.
-
The procedure may be carried out under local or general anesthesia, depending on the age of the patient.
-
Procedure time is approximately 2 hours.
-
Recovery time is typically 1-2 weeks and a headband is worn at night for 3 months. Vigorous exercise may resume at 6 weeks.
