Ear Surgery

Ear surgery (otoplasty) or ‘ear pinning’ is a surgical procedure to reshape outstanding ears and improve their placement closer to the head.

Otoplasty is an insured service by OHIP until the age of 18 years.

  • The scars are well hidden behind the ears.

  • The procedure may be carried out under local or general anesthesia, depending on the age of the patient.

  • Procedure time is approximately 2 hours.

  • Recovery time is typically 1-2 weeks and a headband is worn at night for 3 months. Vigorous exercise may resume at 6 weeks.
