Face Lift (Rhytidectomy)
As we age, the skin and muscles of our face and neck lose tone and begin to sag. A facelift (rhytidectomy) is a surgical procedure to improve the signs of aging on the face and/or neck. It involves smoothing the skin and tightening deeper structures of the face and/or neck. A facelift can be done alone or in conjunction with other procedures, such as an eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) or injectables/fillers.
The scars are designed to be hidden in the hairline, natural folds of the ear, and sometimes below the chin.
Facelift surgery is carried out under general anesthesia. Procedure time is approximately 3-5 hours and usually requires an overnight stay in hospital. Recovery time is typically 2 weeks and vigorous exercise may resume at 6 weeks.
